Collins | Webb Architecture was commissioned by Leigh + O’Kane to renovate their new corporate office location into a forward-thinking workplace that retained the understated charm of the exterior with modern design principles on the interior. Located in the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit, this office captures the essence of a modern engineering firm while paying homage to its community roots.

The building, which was originally constructed in 1994 in the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit has been thoughtfully renovated to retain its brick façade while incorporating sleek, modern interiors featuring clean lines, polished concrete floors, and glass partitions, offering a harmonious fusion of the old and new.

The office features expansive open spaces filled with natural light, where teams can come together in a variety of informal settings. Comfortable lounge areas, long communal tables, and writable walls create dynamic hubs of creativity and communication. For moments requiring concentration, Leigh + O’Kane’s office includes acoustically treated quiet rooms and private focus booths. These spaces allow employees to retreat from the bustle of the open floor plan, ensuring a balanced work environment that caters to different work styles.

Sustainability was a major focus in the design process. The office boasts energy-efficient lighting, low-VOC materials, and an emphasis on natural ventilation and daylighting strategies. Biophilic design elements, such as indoor plants and natural finishes, further enhance the well-being of employees and reinforce the firm’s commitment to a healthy work environment.
